The Fifa World Cup in the US starts on June 11, but for fans in India and China, the two most populous countries in the world, there’s little clarity on where they’ll be able to watch the tournament.
The Reliance-Disney joint venture, which runs the JioHotstar platform, has offered $20 million for 2026 World Cup broadcast rights, a fraction of what FIFA is seeking. As a result, the sport’s governing body is not keen on the offer.
